Fresh Bread
Simple Bread Maker Recipe
Simple Bread Maker Recipe
Hi friends! This bread is my absolute favorite — soft, wholesome, and made with love (and a little patience 😄). Fresh milled flour, honey, olive oil, salt, and yeast come together in my bread maker to make a loaf that’s perfect for breakfast, snacks, or just a cozy bite anytime.
Baking this bread reminds me of how Jesus is the Bread of Life — nourishing, sustaining, and full of love. I love sharing this simple, biblical recipe with you here at Twin Willows Table!
Ingredients and Supplies
3 1/2 cups Freshly Milled Flour - see Azure Standard Page
1 1/3 cup Warm Water
1/4 cup Olive Oil
1/4-1/3 cup Honey
1-2 tsp Salt
2 1/2 tsp Active Dry Yeast
(this bread maker has a whole wheat setting, which is what I use!)
Grain Mill
(my Miller is currently out of stock, but I'll let you know when it comes back in stock!
Start by milling your hard white wheat berries into fresh flour. This is what makes your bread so wholesome and flavorful! I usually mill enough for one loaf (about 3 1/2 cups).
It is very self explanatory lol!
Pour the warm water, olive oil, honey, and salt into your bread maker first. This is the base that makes your bread soft, sweet, and perfectly seasoned.
Now add your freshly milled hard white wheat flour on top of the wet ingredients, followed by the active dry yeast. This is what makes your bread rise and become soft and fluffy.
Select the basic or whole wheat cycle on your bread maker and let it run (about 3 hours total). Now comes the easy part — the bread maker does all the kneading and baking for you!
Once the bread maker cycle is done, carefully remove the loaf from the pan and let it cool on a wire rack. Cooling helps the bread set so it slices beautifully and keeps its soft texture.
Try Different Wheat Berries: I’ve been using hard white wheat berries, but there are so many types you can experiment with — like red wheat or spelt. Each one gives your bread a slightly different flavor and texture!
A Bread Maker Makes Life Easy: Honestly, the bread maker does all the hard work for you — kneading, rising, baking — and it’s amazing. But don’t worry if you don’t have one! You can make this bread by hand too; it just takes a bit more time and elbow grease.
Fresh Ingredients Matter: Using freshly milled flour, real honey, and good olive oil really makes a difference. Your bread will taste wholesome, soft, and so much better than store-bought!
Don’t Rush the Rise: Patience is key. Let the dough rise properly — it’s what makes your loaf light, fluffy, and perfect for slicing.
Baking fresh bread isn’t just about making food — it’s about taking time, being patient, and enjoying something wholesome that you made yourself. Just like Jesus is the Bread of Life, this bread reminds me that God provides for all our needs — and sometimes, He even gives us a little fun along the way! I hope you enjoy making it as much as I do. Happy baking!
